Epson Thermal Printer via PHP and Serial

We’re delighted to share an innovative contribution from one of our community members, Warren. He’s successfully created a project using a Raspberry Pi 2 paired with our Serial Pi RS232 adapter to operate an EPSON Thermal Printer, all controlled via PHP.

The PHP script developed by Warren serves as the bridge between the Raspberry Pi and the printer, handling the data transmission that commands the printer to produce output. This script is handy for those looking to integrate similar printing capabilities into their projects or businesses without starting from scratch.

For those interested in this project, Warren’s code is readily accessible on his GitHub repository. Here, you can download the source files, which include detailed comments explaining how each segment of the code functions.

To see this setup in action, a video is available that demonstrates how the Raspberry Pi communicates with the EPSON Thermal Printer using Warren’s PHP script.

We encourage everyone to check out the code and video demonstration to see how you might be able to incorporate this technology into your projects. If you have questions or need assistance, our community and support forums are great places to seek help.
